5 Tips for Taking Revised GMAT

The GMAT has recently revised as we mentioned in our last post . A new section called Integrated Reasoning section of the GMAT now .

With the revised test still in its infancy version, the number of applicants to business school who saw the integrated reasoning section is very low. Here are some tips to help you cope with the changes.

1. Stimulation of practice
It is strongly recommended that you practice some tests on computer so that you get an idea on how to survey the test. It is important to understand the tempo that will give a fair idea about how you manage your time during the actual test.

The integrated reasoning section in the GMAT has a lot of tables and graphs , so that candidates studying for the test must be able to interpret these types of data in the shortest possible time .

This new section is not really scary or difficult, the major problem is that it is time . Therefore, it is important to develop the ability to read and analyze tables and graphs.

2 . Allow enough time to study
It is extremely necessary to allow sufficient time for practice. IR section is not something very hard. It takes a good deal of practice so that you can improve your skills in data analysis.

Outside the IR section , sufficient practice is necessary, so that you may be familiar with the exam material and question types . This will in turn boost your confidence when you actually write the GMAT.

3 . Eliminate Irregularities
It is true that you can not really study for the GMAT. It is a skill that you must develop . The more you practice , the more you familiarize yourself with the style test.

4 . Learning to navigate between content types
Candidates who have passed the test stated that the revised real IR section was much easier than expected.

They believe that the most difficult part was to digest large amounts of data and navigation in both directions between different text, tables and graphics.

An effective strategy is to rapidly analyze data, then read the questions carefully , and then return to the data and carefully analyze the corresponding section.

5 . Practice at your level
You should always practice questions based on your skill level. If you score 550 on practice exams , making 700 + level issues will not help you, because you will never see these questions on test day . It is important that you master the 500 - and 600 -level questions first .

Also, when you prepare for the test, always check solutions both tried questions correctly and incorrectly. This will give you a better understanding why a solution was correct and why the other is wrong . This may not help much for the quantitative part , but it will definitely help a lot in the verbal section .

I hope you keep these tips in mind and prepare the GMAT.
